PyBeach 2026: Lightning Talks CFP

We're doing lightning talks at PyBeach 2026! If you are familiar with the general idea, you can get right to it (the proposal link is at the bottom of the page). If you don't know what this is, but think you might be interested in submitting, please read on!

What is a Lightning Talk?

A lightning talk is a short form (in our case 5-minute) talk on any topic of interest to to speaker. The goal is to outline a topic and spark interest in the audience without going too deep into detail. Unlike our regular CFP, the process for selecting lightning talks will be much less formal and much less rigorous. However, we still expect that you present something interesting, with integrity, and that follows our Code of Conduct.

What can a Lightning talk be about?

Advertisments for companies or professional services are not allowed (we have a sponsorship tier for that), and all presentations must follow our Code of Conduct. Other than that, the topic can be nearly anything you want! As long as our comittee thinks it'll be interesting to hear (for the intended audience of Python programmers), your proposal will be considered.

If you need some examples or inspiration, you can check out this recording from PyCon 2025.

Who can submit a lightning talk?

Anyone who is attending the conference. If you do not have a ticket, get one first (you will need to include your ticket code with your submission to show that you are indeed planning to attend). If price is a barrier to you attending, please contact us at financialaid@pybeach.org for a free or reduced price ticket.

Lightning talks will take place at the end of the day, just before the closing remarks.

Proposal Process

Submissions will close TWO (2) days before the conference, on October 22nd, 2026, Anywhere On Earth. If you make a submission and then subsequently find that you cannot attend, please withdraw your proposal immediately.

DO NOT submit a proposal unless you already have a ticket, and can be ready to present your talk on the day of the conference.

Slides Presentation

If your talk requires slides, you will need to bring a laptop with an HDMI port (or use a USB-C -> HDMI dongle) that is capable of connecting to the venue's projector. If you don't want to bring a laptop for just a 5-minute presentation, you may use the optional fields in the CFP form to upload them and we will compile them onto a laptop for you (we will leave these forms open to edit, so don't feel like you need to provide your slides right away if you want us to handle them).

If you have read all of the above and are ready to go, submit your proposal here.
